What the app actually does
MyTaxMate is a Malaysian personal income tax assistant for your phone. Photograph a receipt and SmartScan reads the merchant, the date and the amount, then works out which relief it belongs to: lifestyle, medical, childcare, books, sports equipment and the rest. Nothing is typed twice, and nothing waits in a drawer until April.
The relief tracker keeps a running total against the real LHDN caps for each year of assessment, so you can see how much of the RM2,500 lifestyle allowance you have left before you spend rather than after. Freelancers and sole proprietors get the same treatment for business expenses and capital assets, plus a profit and loss statement they can keep as their own accounting record.
When the return is due, the filing co-pilot walks you through it box by box and tells you which figure belongs in which numbered box on MyTax. To be clear about what it is not: MyTaxMate never submits anything on your behalf. You sign in to MyTax and submit it yourself, with the numbers already worked out, checked and ready to copy across.
Afterwards, every receipt stays in the vault for the seven years LHDN can still ask to see it, with the retention date shown on each one. A query three years later becomes a search instead of a panic.

Free to start. Both the iPhone and the Android app sign in to the same account as the website, so a receipt scanned on your phone is already there when you open MyTaxMate on a laptop. New to Malaysian income tax? The plain-English guides cover the forms, the reliefs and the deadlines.
